We feel like we just mined a precious jewel in finding this book. When studying composer's for our homeschool we were using the Opal Wheeler books, which we enjoyed, but were finding them to be very repetitive in plot. I feel like this book gives us a clearer look at their lives than the other books and they don't sugar coat characters quite as much either (did you know Handel had a temper?!). We appreciate that it's just a chapter per composer, yet it's a chapter packed with information and written in an engaging way. This 40 yr mom and her five kids 14 aged down to 8 really enjoy learning with this book.Product details

Pretty wordy- hard to read. Disappointed as the stories are probably fabulous
This is a children's book. I thought it was for adults.
This is a very easy to read and informative book, for both musicians and all lovers of music. It contains information of the composers that many of us never knew before.
If you've got to read anything historical, get it from a pre-revisionist period. Harriette Brower supplies us with just the facts as they were known at the time minus any unnecessary social commentary. Excellent history of some favorite composers.
